What are Your favorite/most used chain specs, pitch/gauge/DL?

Probably 24" 84Dl full comp full chisel .050". But semi would probably be better for this.

I can't get skip in my area, but I think I can get 84DL .050" full complement.
Personaly I don't like semi-chisel, it cuts slow for me.

I won't promise anything, too much on my plate already!

Now we’re getting somewhere. Square Stihl. Duracut semi chisel holds and edge well but doesn’t cut well, need to put some hook in it.

Europe and Australasia Husky bars are .058, Stihl .063.
The .050 not at all common.

Farmer next door gave me some 60 year old black locust poles that were used as gate posts about 14" diameter. I use a dura cut 325 chain to cut thm up. The dura cut holds up well and resharpens easy enough.

Yeah, just throwing out options.
I should mention my 32” and up are .063”. Probably the 30” too but I’d have to check.
I like .063” better, doesn’t seem like it should matter, but it seems more durable and like it fits closer in the rails.

Did You ever consider getting a herd of beavers and have them chew that stuff to kindling?

On a serious note.
You seem to have some heavy equipment at Your disposal, if so could You make an hydraulic attachment to "cut" that stuff down in size?

@Wilhelm the grapple belongs to the neighboring shop where I get the wood. I do have a machine shop, I suppose I could build some kind of processor with harvester chain. But the square is looking promising. I have a 36” loop of square I got from @Woodslasher I think will be good stuff. Also probably the Duracut once I find a good grind for it. Gotta put the 3120 to use!

You don't need square to cut it, round filed will cut it just fine lol
Here's some chain I'd personally use over that Duracut the log in your vid looks reasonably clean just dry I'm sure it's not all that clean by your pics.
Stihl RS .404 on one my 88's nothing fancy as you don't need fancy it's basic stuff 10 down 7/32 file to the end of chain life.
Personal preference cutting hard hardwoods as you can see in my pic .404 and I have not "get the gullet" on purpose shock horror lol
Minimum give the chain a rub every tank. takes me 5min 25inch bar full comp to sharpen.
If it's dirty with fine sand RM would be the go deye223 users RM/semichisel and his saws cut fast in dirty hardwoods from what I've seen.

I know square isn’t a need…the point was more Stihl seems to hold up better than Oregon. And square is faster and smoother, especially compared to semi chisel. Then again my little oregon speedcut NK 18” was pretty impressive out of the box so there is hope for semi.

how dirty is that wood? can you brush it off so you dont have to deal with dirt on the outside? if it hasnt been in a river and got silt in it. I would get some square semi skip chain ground to good hardwood angles with factory depth guage settings and see how it cuts and then adjust the depth as needed. by hard wood angles i mean squared up a little on the top plate and blunter more chisel shape of inside angles powered by a big saw with a 7 pin rim and you should be able to cut that stuff pretty well

No, but I have that granberg coming I can probably use.

It has dust in it and I pressure wash it first.
