One hard to over come issue with .404 is its hard to reduce chain speed & increase torque with a sprocket swap. A 7 pin .404 sprocket is bigger than an 8 pin 3/8. The old saws that had much lower max rpm and put down their power at much lower speeds overcome this but today's high revving saws make .404 a bit challenging in oz hardwood. I run a lot of it but would love the option of say a 5 or 6 pin sprocket to slow things down and put some torque behind the cutters.

Mutt runs a 9..
Hell, I'd run a 10 if the freaking chain would stay on the bar... Lol
The 7900 has a 9pin on it but it wouldn't like the 404 that's on the 066,it's stronger than the dolmar by a good bit and it's pulling it hard.
The 50" 404 with full comp and a stock chain don't pull as hard as that 20" 404.

Mutt is a 7900 Matt has that mike built,it's quite stout. Best running one I've ran.
I think John Reilly has a couple that are stronger. The Solo isn't quite up to it and has the longer stroke advantage.

John's 681's are bad dudes..
But I'd like another crack at em with the mutt set up the way it is right now.
I'm sure it would be close. I would like to see a couple of his against that one with the same chain/operator. I'd like to know how close it is without a head and big carb.

Maybe we can get him to come up for the GTG in December.
