Several people ask how to maintain consistent filing angles, when the chain cutters don’t have ‘witness marks’.

Some file holders have these marks.

These magnetic angle gides are another way, that has been around for a number of years.

Pretty simple: strong magnets, clear lines. Something you could make yourself, if so inspired.

25°/30° and 30°/35° models (different angles on each side). I marked mine with a label maker, because the molded in numbers are hard to read.

Available on eBay, Amazon, and through some chainsaw suppliers. Discounts might be available if you buy both models.

An Oregon version also shows up, and there may be others.

Most people have a difficult time maintaining consistent angles on both sides. I think it’s because of being dominant on one side of your body.
