Nothing is random....
Well at least I hope this was:

It appears that another competitor at the races may have smacked my handle while setting their saw down. I had replaced it right before the event so I know it wasn't damaged. I guess I'll have to covet it like it's the precious from now on. Lol

I agree, thats a terrible picture! It must have been a whole bunch of fun getting that file under the cutter on Low Profile.

Can you remember what the side plate angle was?
Yup pic is terrible, I had to use the six sided triangle shape chisel file as the single bevel would not really fit. The side plate was leaning forward a bit, some were close to 90° vertical to bar. It took ages to hand file square & while it cut fast and really smooth, I can't be bothered doing that after work when I can get a good chain with 2 mins on the grinder, 3mins if I want depth gauges done as well.

I've been doing more square filing lately. It's just so much better than anything else, but it does take some time

I wanna Simington real bad, but at around a grand US +shipping it's an expensive want. When I cut nice big Ozzy 25"+gums the 681 Solo comes out with a loop of CL hand filed.

We used to spray WD40 on the moto X pipes and cylinders to keep sand/mud from stickin.
Worked pretty good actually

PAM works well for muddy races- on the engine, even under the fenders to keep heavy mud from clinging. Plus it smells like gramma's biscuits while you're riding :hambre:
