I have a header pipe for a muffler and it seems fine for exhausting. I’ll have to look into the timing. I had read before that because of the EFI it doesn’t need it but that may just be fake news lol

If you just swapped cylinders, I wonder if you need to adjust the timing to the new Ripsaw cylinder. Also, if the cylinder is modded for more power, you might need to do a muffler mod to let more exhaust out. I wonder if that is part of the issue, the saw is effectively trying to exhaust through a straw (almost like having a clogged spark arrestor on a regular saw).

Edit: I don't port or mod cylinders, but have seen enough posts of those that do that usually there are timing and exhaust mods that go along with it - hopefully some modders will speak up if I am incorrect.
Failing to advance the timing or mod the muffler will limit the benefit of porting, not reduce the power from the stock output.

I've owned 3 and worked on at least a half doz other 500s running 25-36" bars. never had the kind of clutch slippage you describe. the clutch springs and/or shoes may be worn out.

I'll assume he means that the motor revs, but the chain isn't moving much or at all?
I'm a little curious about has the bar been flipped, to see if that has any affect on things?
Is the bar twisted somehow? Any damage to the bar groove?
Any debris in the groove?
Chain been derailed and driver damages? Chain been oopsed and run backwards.
Hey, anyone can get in a hurry or be distracted by the damned cellphones these days.

Or the Rim/sprocket?
Heck.. any chance the rim got left out ?
Is there anything around the clutch area (bar plates etc) that could be bent or missing?
Nicked/dulled tip teeth on one side and we get that curved kerf and the bar binds after a few inches of cut depth.

Anyone have suggestions for how much to take off the key?
Zero, it will run worse if you do, as it will get the fuel injection timing off as well.
As far as hardwood chains go, Husqvarna X-cut is great right outta the box.
Good luck with your saw.

Chain was new and the bar had low time on it and wasn’t damaged. Chain was on correct. I believe I was cutting ash the day it really was acting up. I even checked the chain again when I got home and there was no damage to it. Luckily I have a brand new cylinder and piston if I wanted to get it ported up if that may be the issue. I figured advance might screw up the EFI!

I don’t know if maybe its computer just isn’t used to the new hardware and it just isn’t setting itself correctly. I did what Donny walker said and let kit just idle for 15 minutes just to let it do anything on a program level.
