Hey guys. I’m throwing a new walbro HD16 on the 460. I always start with 1 turn out on high and low. I always get the high setting right because I have a tack. Where do you guys start the idle adjustment screw to start? I think that is what has gotten me screwed up in the past in setting the low. My stock carb came with a .68 main in it, so I will verify that’s what the replacement has in it. Also, I opened up the muffler and have a maxflow air cleaner set up on it. Are there better air filter options out there and if you have a similar set up, what main jet are you running.

I‘m running a .76 in mine with an open dual port muffler. From what I‘ve learned the .68 was for USA emission regulations. The 046‘s apparently had a larger main jet.IMG_0031.jpeg

Doesn’t really matter as long as the adjustable jet adds plenty of fuel in addition to the replaceable fixed yet. Only difference between .68 and .76 is about 1/8 of a turn

Ok thanks guys. I have been able to get the fuel I need on the high side in the past without a ridiculous amount past 1 turn. When I get the new one, I will verify the main jet size. Hopefully it’s the same but it’s a quick swap if not. Now to open up the 076 super to see what’s wrong. Think it needs a coil

I would just do it in plenty far and then turn it down when it starts. The low just turn the idle in screw until the chain starts creeping and adjust the low for fastest chain speed, and then back of just a hair, then you can turn down the idle.
