Racing over cants is another story .It all started some years ago at a GTG with Gypo ( John Lambert ) and Big Dave with a couple of hopped up ported mini saws with pipes . It was fun . Copsey' great big Doberman it hurt his ears and I would plug his ears with my fingers .That 100 pound leg eater was my buddy .Before too long most of us had 2 cubers .The 020's and 200T's were the ones .They out ran everything .Mine and "cut for funs" out ran them all and Kevins' was stock and he out ran me by a quarter second and mine was modified .The average on a 9" cant with a stoker 200T is two cuts in 15 seconds and we were in the 11's .So much about the bunk of a top handle being dangerous . This was in the days before rapid super chain ,it was all semi chisel in low profile .--just a tale from now a long time ago .

Worst ones are the ones that won't start!

That 029 of mine was one of those, it would kick-back and ruin the plastic starter pawls. So, not only did I tune the de-comp for the engine (which I had to do again after putting in the pop-up piston), but I also put an 066 coil on it that had a 4 degree retard on starting. - Now the thing is a just 'pull and go'.

I hate a saw that is hard to start!

Worst I've ever run, 038 mag. 72cc of pure disappointment. Weighs a ton and handles like it weighs a ton. Cut speed just better than pap's old Pioneer 610, lol. It's a turd... and will last forever cause it doesn't have enough powa to blow.

Favorite chainsaw is my [ported]357.

A well ported 365 special isn't far behind...

A 056 mag is the big turd brother to an 038 mag I guess you could say. Stock they are a rather slow, loud and heavy brick. Not to mention they are one of the more difficult saws to work on. The pile of bolts removed on tear down is even bigger than the infamous ms441. I get the nostalgia and sentimental factor with these older saws. I really do. But I’d rather have a 064 or 288 than a 056 given the choice.

Best there's a early stock 371xp that comes to mind
I had in the early 2000s
Thousands of tree's on it.
Sometimes they are just right
From the factory.
My favorites of my current saws
Dj ported a 2166 it's the only xt saw I've ever liked.
Stumpshot ported a 266 and 268.
and randy dunlap ported a 268 and 272
Ported a couple oem 372 cylinder kits
That I put on a couple prc saws.IMG_20200918_172257.jpg

I can take any of these out of the shop and cut all day
And not have to worry about anything
Very strong saws.

I still haven’t used the MMWS Dolmar 6100 enough to be used to a saw that fast. It’s thru ‘fore I’m ready. My wedge cuts end up being too deep/big. First time I stuck it to a pine, I nearly cut the tree down in one cut before I caught up.
