Fair point. Mostly because I am cutting dirty wood near the ground all the time, so I need a durable tooth shape I can sharpen quickly every tank of gas. But I should try some PS. And I hit rocks frequently. Starting to run super short bars to avoid the rocks. I’m thinning and have to leave very low to flush stumps.

If you are in dirt conditions, 3/8LP won't last near as long. And if you rock the chain on 3/8, you will be removing a lot more cutter to bring it back vs 325NK.

Personally, tho, I prefer the 261 to the 241. WHen both have their stratos gutted, the 261 is a monster by comparison. And this for only about 1/2# more weight. It will easily pull a 16 or 18 inch bar with full kerf 325 all day, and a 16 with 3/8 standard chain for firewood duty. I only have a 241 because I got it in trade for work done.

The Stihl 18" picco bar is actually only alil over 16" if measured. I ran a Cannon 18" Supermini and a Stihl PS chain on my 241 that I actually have on my ported 346xp now and it pulled it really well. The Cannon SuperMini is actually a true 18" bar

If I recall, I was at 62DL on my 18" picco bar.

325 should be a little smoother, it has more cutters. But also less room for chips. If cutting hardwood it’s not much of an issue though

325 does just fine with the chips as the cutters are usually taller and shorter in length than picco. Silky smooth, too. First chunk is gunky larch, second one is Spanish Chestnut. On a ported 241 before I gutted the stratos.

Picco has so many different Dl counts. My 16” picco bar is 60 Dl

Thanks for the videos and input everyone. Several ways to similar results it looks like. Does anyone think the heavier load of 325 shortens the engine life of a non ported 40cc saw?

I’m sure there are some really smart people working at Stihl. Why the DL count changes 5 links between a 3003 and 3005 mount bar is just stupid. I’d venture to guess that 60 DL on the 3005 mount would get it closer to the 16” spec. too.
14” Picco is 52 DL and probably closer to 12” available for cutting.

No way. There are plenty of Homie Super EZ’s running today, and since the 70’s pulling full size 3/8” chain from the factory. (40.9cc)

I’d tend to say that 325 isn’t a heavier load. Look at sprocket size, .325 7 tooth is way smaller than a picco 7 tooth

Picco is Stihl's code name for 3/8" LP, so you already have it!

Run side by side with a 261, I'll take the 241 any day. Lighter and smoother all day long. KIWI I didnt get the 241 on a drunken whim with no research. Hell, even the "God like", never wrong, Mr @blsnelling has said he prefers the 241 as well.
BTW...for those stuck with a 261c-m...what do you feel is the best bar, chain, and sprocket setup for it?

I think he wants to change from a spur to a 7t rim and need the part #.

I have the performance kit on mine. 16” 3/8lp with picco super. The kit isn’t available in the US. Only in Canada and Europe as far as i know. It comes with the bar, rim, and 3 chains.
