Oh no. I see him selling a lot of saws but I've never bought one. I hope he comes through. Do you mind sharing the details of the transaction.?

Sure he was selling an echo cs 800 chainsaw with a bad top end but was going to include a new oem topend with it he was asking 475 shipped. I sent him $275 cash and traded him a 576xp with a bad top end and also included a used oem top end. I sent him saw thinking he would do the same. 2 weeks passed by he said he was down with covid and put him behind. Then he said he was in Virginia picking up motorcycles and he was in very sketchy places and couldn’t text me. Then he was going to have his girlfriend put it out for mailman but forgot. Then he sends me a tracking number through usps saying it’s still at his house. He said Saturday it was shipped out but tracking number wouldn’t show until Monday because they close at 1230 pm on Saturday. So I checked the tracking number this morning and still says at his place not picked up yet. I’m hoping he will come through and make it right.

I’m just seeing this thread as I was notified about it via private message from another member. His saw was scanned thru usps this afternoon and is due for delivery Thursday. Everyone I have sold to has received their saws and has been more than happy with what they received. Lord knows I’ve done plenty of buying between Bruce and OPE. Nothing to worry about boys I’m not going anywhere.

I've mailed saws or parts out by USPS
and they have set up to a week at my post office
And I've had to drive 13 miles
To find out why they were still there
What i discovered is from my experience
The heavier the package is the more likely they'll leave it laying there for the next person.

Ugh, knock on wood for the amount of items I’ve shipped and received I’ve been pretty lucky. But I’ve had a few things that seem to get stuck in a postal Bermuda Triangle and bounce from warehouse to warehouse for days, sometimes almost a week, until they decide to make it to the local office and final destination.

I've had the same. Week long waits with a label but no travel info.

On the flipside, I've bought two "good running" saws that were garbage, and have had a well known trader string me along for months (they made a gesture recognizing such, and there's no hard feelings on my end)

Sometimes life just happens; sometimes folks (UPS/USPS/FEDEX.....God I miss DHL) just don't want to do the jobs they voluntarily chose to do.

I will not ship a saw through USPS. I cringe mailing a letter. I use UPS and yes they just like anyone can make a mistake but USPS will fudge up a wet dream. Trust me 25 years plus of mailing equipment worldwide I do have a bit of experience.

Sent a box to Wy…via usps…same place a previous box had gone, direct route. This time, routed to Denver for some odd reason. I hope it shows up 🙄
All the boxes sent to NC went ups…too big/heavy for PO who wanted 2x+ to ship them. Win some, lose some…

Yeah once you hit a certain weight or size usps isn’t really financially feasible. Thats when I go with ups. I suppose I’ve just been lucky in the past 20 years or so…again knocking on wood. Sure they might take some weird routes or circle around here and there but I’ve experienced that with ups and fedex as well. But I’ve never had a problem with actual delivery. I personally never use fedex but I receive plenty from them. Again I’m going to knock on some wood. I don’t like all this negative shipping talk. Doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies.

I always pack saws, parts, etc as if they will be dropped off a truck at some point. So far, all safe arrivals :D

I agree. So do I…I assume they will be dropped off the truck every time and pack accordingly.
UPS does not publish it anymore but they used to say every box had to be packed to withstand a 6 foot drop test. Years ago when I was in high school you could go "catch" packages at the airport terminal before school. They would taxi the plane to the terminal and then literally throw the boxes from the plane. The kids had to catch them.

The kids were not good at catching.
