Anybody Ever Make Their Own Skip Chains?

Nobody plays golf with one club.

I do. But the only parts of golf that I like are drinking beer and foraging for lost balls in the bushes.

Lugging around a bunch of different sized whackers seems like a pointless distraction that gets in the way of carrying beer and found balls.

Pro tip: The more time you spend wandering off looking for beer and lost golf balls, the less chance you'll be invited back to lose another precious afternoon of your life. Make sure they can't find you when it's finally ball whacking time!

Part of the choking issue might have been the 28” chains on the 2166 being 1 link too long. Lots of gap between the rim sprocket and the heel of the bar, so I suspect if the chips were not ejected from under the clutch cover, they would get between the bar and chain

I intend to do some testing chip testing. Cut a cookie part way through, hit the brake, break the half cookie off and see what’s up in there.

I intend to do some testing chip testing. Cut a cookie part way through, hit the brake, break the half cookie off and see what’s up in there.

Do not hit the chain brake!
Rather push the kill switch!
That's what I did testing chip clearance on my Full House EXL in turkey oak and it didn't hurt my saw.

I wouldn't wanna intentionally engage the chain brake at WOT, too much power that has to be absorbed and converted into heat by that little brake band.

What a weird sequence to file, Archer FastFiler doesn't work on these, Husqvarna roller filing jig does.
I am curious to get much more runtime on Full Skip.

24" 84DL 3/8" B&C setup, in use for the first time too.
I like it.

More run time? Each tooth does more work for the same amount of wood removed. I'd think it will dull up faster than full comp.

More run time using a Full Skip chain in general!
I do not expect Skip to hold up as well as Full Complement, not in the hardwood logs I am going to buck.

Skip is not common in my area, I got this 84DL Skip loop and one other from the US.

Then You did/made it wrong!

Mine does, 36" 115DL fully buried in oak and beech - no problem.

And as a note regarding factory full skip, it holds up better bucking turkey oak and softer wood species than full comp.
At least in 24" 84DL.
