$10 at family dollar. Can't beat that. So far I have less than $15 in my dye job. And I can reuse my dye water .

Ok finally got a day off and am going to dye some more parts today. I got the Farmertech tank from Dave and got it prepped for masking.

I wanted to keep the clear tank so I taped it off with electrical tape. I hope it holds! I taped off the fuel line hole and plugged the vent hole.

Now it's in the dye along with the carb box cover and a scabbard! The tank floats because I have the tank closed off so I have a clamp holding it. I'm using the biggest pot I have and it was recommended by my wife![emoji6]

Looking good. Can't wait to see how the tape did. I did find when I dyed mine that the dye wouldn't penetrate the oem stickers. They were in good shape so I left them on and it looks like they belong there now.

Look good. Anybody have a problem with boiling water deforming the plastic?

Yeah mine never got hot enough to boil, but I also used my wood stove so temp control was kinda out of my hands.

I'm gonna try red on the white parts on stihls. And dye the Orange black. I think it will look good like that.

With my luck they would Come out pink
Might keep some guys from stealing them.

Husqvarna has drawings for pink chainsaws, most years, to raise awareness for breast cancer. I decided that if I won one I would use it.

What I would not want is one of those camo saws: I have no doubt that I would leave it behind, or drop a tree onto it.

Well it got dark before the whole process was over. I had to turn the heat off for a couple hours this afternoon and run the kids to some appointments. I finally took everything out and rinsed with cold water and pat dry. I already knew that my seal job on the clear tank failed. Here are the parts before I remove the tape and see what's up with the clear tank.

Well the taping off the clear tank failed! The inside got dye in it so I figured it would no longer be clear. Oh well back in the pot to get finished.

Wonder if you could shellac it as a mask. As I recall, shellac is soluble in alcohol, but not water?

Anyway, no big deal to pop a floppy cap to check the fuel level.
