Had one. They're heavy, but lots of power. Used the limb saw and hedge trimmer attachment mainly. Worked good. Had to tune carb a little out of box as it was way rich. Little grease on the splines and shafts all I did to it. I will be ordering another in near future.

It’s been a while since I have posted, but I felt an update or two regarding aftermarket parts was warranted.
I blew up a Farmertec MS390 engine after six years of light to moderate use. The last two years being used exclusively for habitat work and buckthorn cutting. It was used, slightly abused, but always did well. I leaned it out a bit the other day then made some cuts… while bringing it closer to the 12,000 rpm it likes (rich, but safe) it locked up.

The wrist pin had worked its way THROUGH the oem circlip, hung up, and destroyed the piston. Now, this is my first failure and I played a role, but it’s best to check circlip interference fit when using oem clips in AM pistons.

The saw owes me nothing… and would likely have lasted longer had I not stretched the rpm a touch. I will say that the clip rotated to that position as I always orient them to 12 o’clock. Tolerances aren’t great and there was probably more slop in there than I would like. I used oem clips after not liking the eared AM clips in most kits. Now I see why the ears (in the correct temper steel) work.
Rings were Cabers. Plating wasn’t peeling yet, and only a few scuffs were visible after the failure.
Still no Meteor failures after 14 years of using them. Pins, rings (Caber)… even clips for a couple are all still good and cutting trees.
Best part about this obsession is grabbing another rebuild and finishing the day. Then, no stress tear down just out of curiosity… not need. Owning 20 plus working saws is a good thing (despite what my wife thinks).

Thanks for reporting this.
The current wisdom has been to not trust the AM clips, use OEM.
I have noticed a big difference in the diameter of the circlip wire and piston groove between OEM and AM sets on some saws.
Often the AM wire/groove is larger than the OEM. This would allow the OEM clip to sit further into the AM piston groove with less material showing to retain the piston pin.
It makes sense to use a better quality part, but if it doesn't fit correctly, this appears to be the result.

Unsure if this has been posted before, there is a sort of remake, not quite clone of the Stihl 070 AV, with a chain brake.
I also found a video showing a version of the generic Zenoa clone, with twin vertical anti-vibration springs between the carburator compartment and the gas tank, YSK 12000XT 26L.

Can't purchase a Newtop saw.
