Yes
Multiple coils that didn't interchange in the same model line
And each are very expensive
I didn’t realize that. I've only heard good things about Dolmars. The 6100 is the only one I've ever owned. It's a great saw in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing this. I just ordered a G372XP and it’s $155 to my door.
I was looking through my shop and found a lot of parts
a couple of complete 288 topends with carbs and intakes and mufflers
a complete 372xt oem topend and a hyway bb oe style kit if i want to use it with the xt carb.
And a 395 cylinder if i need it.
So i ordered 2 288s one blue one orange
A blue 372xt and a orange 395
My logger buddy wants to try the 395 he has like 10 oem one's.

Nice, sounds like you can play swapnostics and come up with some nice running combos.

Dolmars had many different coils but how many different coils go on Stihls and Husqvarna? Doesn't the 066 have like 5 different coil and flywheel options?
Stihls always had parts incompatibility across their line
I've dealt with them since the 1980s Husqvarna and jonsereds was always more forgiving with carbs, coils and topends
I never cared for dolmar after they epoxied carbs that fried and they didn't honor the warranties when they fried.
My friends shop lost money and replaced many dolmars new saws or with efco saws in that timeframe and dropped dolmar as fast as they could.

Just curious, why don’t you like high tops? I’m a Stihl guy, and absolutely new to this “Chusqavarna” I bought. What the main difference between the high and low tops, besides shape? Does one filter better than another? Are they interchangeable?

Hightops offer better air flow allegedly
But I never could tell the difference in actual use
Lowtops make for a smaller more maneuverable saw on hillsides.

@Red97
How about a test of
Hightops vs lowtops and vs those stupid pod filter's guys ruin topcovers for.

Also aftermarket vs oem coils would be a good one to test as well..

I could test the AM vs. OEM coil. That would be fun for me....not sure if I could dig out my old timing light and check that way, but I can certainly do some timed cuts on video. But I certainly won't be mad if Dyno Joe makes a video on it. You are the only youtube saw channel I watch @Red97

I just snagged a decent 372 parts saw for cheap, so I now have an OEM coil and two AM coils. That parts saw also included an oem flywheel which might be interesting to throw into the test as well.

With the air injection system on these, I always figured the saw was getting enough air for the high top vs low top to not make a performance difference. I also prefer the low top for the same reasons......

As a joke for 2023 sawfest clone wars, I wanted to scab like 3 high tops together to make a 1ft tall super high top. lol.

Sale still going on
If anyone is unfamiliar with a 288 it's one of the best production saws ever made
I've ran 181/281/288 from the 80s to now.
I have 2 from 2000 we bought new
Only put rings, carb kit and fuel lines in them still running like new.
Strong bottom ends in those
If this 176.00 clone is anything at all like them it'll be good.
I ran 28s on them
Not 394/395 power but 3lbs lighter and smaller with low tops.

I fired it up stock , but I really intend to run it modified.
It does run well and idle right out of the box. If the hyway cylinder doesn't have what it takes to improve the engine I'll just swap back to the original.
Was the piston ok or was it undersized
That's the only complaint I've heard about the g395
I have a new hyway popup for mine if i need it
It's still a month out at sea.

That's good and i would've expected them to correct that issue
Those saws have been out for awhile now.
More than a few guys here locally run those pig 660 clones holzforma and neotec and have positive experiences with them.
Farmer's mainly a couple tree guy's.
You couldn't give me a 660 or a clone
I never liked them.
One guy has a early g288 and g395 no problems he was telling me
Just thirsty saws.
My friends paid me to order a couple saws
I now have 4 288 1 blue 3 orange
1 372xt blue
1 372xp blue
1 272 blue
1 395 orange that's mine
On the way.
I have the rest sold if I don't want to keep them.
I'm definitely making at least one 288 lite maybe 2

20240101_162504.jpg20240101_162458.jpgthe factory has a pretty good looking cylinder in it.
But...
20240101_170020.jpg20240101_170012.jpg
With and without flash, this is the intake side of the piston. As you can see theres a good amount of machine marks that are worn smooth. No scratches or anything else but I only ran the saw for maybe a minute.

I got the blue bastard in today
IMG_20240102_150839.jpg
Actually I'm impressed with the saw so far has my preferred rubber mounts
For a solid feel.
Great compression
The plastics and fit and finish are far better than the zenoah clones i worked on recently.
Pull rope far too short it's getting true blue 4.5 and a modern husky handle
IMG_20240102_151146.jpg
Oils great
I checked all the fasteners nothing loose or installed incorrectly and greased the clutch bearing.
IMG_20240102_150800.jpg
High tops suck.
Those bar's are 100.00+ now the saw was 176.00

That was a problem with the early ones. I heard they have fixed it.

Also the oil pumps tend to lock up and tear the drive gear up. You can it by taking the oil pump apart and deburr/polish things.
