Might put things in perspective
I agree! Climbed on a couple different static displays years ago and never even dreamed we’d get to see one run again. That whistle stirs the soul something fierce.thought that would never happen...
We were down at Steam town a week ago, that is one big chunk of iron! They have a really cool museum there.Seen the big boy down in Scranton at Steamtown...Love to see one running impressive monsters!
Thanks, I know I’d take the time to see that for sure. I forgot about your avatar, I bet the 844 is no disappointment either.
Wow! Makes the hair on your neck stand up and that’s just a video. No it is not.
From where I was standing you could feel the heat coming off of it as it passed.
I'm sure that cab is hot as all get out.

IT'S NOT!!! I saw it come here to Portland in the late 80's. It was the 8444 back then. Thanks, I know I’d take the time to see that for sure. I forgot about your avatar, I bet the 844 is no disappointment either.
There's always been a conversation which big freight engine had the most power .The C and O "Allegheny " and the Big Boy were not used in the same locations so the puzzle most likely will never be resolved .
I worked at the former Lima Locomotive works for several years as a welder where the Allegheny was built .A restored example is in the Henry Ford Museum on static display https://www.thehenryford.org/explore/stories-of-innovation/what-if/transportation-allegheny/
