I saw a Challenger come to Portland in the late 80's as well as that 8444 on sepate occasions. I believe the Challenger met up with our 4449. We also have the 700 SP&S northern based here in town. About the only run time those two now see is short excursions at Christmas as UP doesn't really want them.on their tracks, from what I've gathered. I did ride a nice excursion up the Columbia Gorge pulled by the 4449 in the 90's.

My dad took me to Steamtown USA when it was in Bellows Falls, Vermont the year before they moved to PA. I was a little young to fully appreciate the visit, but Big Boy left quite an impression on me. Walt @afleetcommand , I watch your video of your trip to Steamtown. It was nice to see the amount of room they have down there and how much they are able to keep under cover. Much of what they had in VT set outdoors.
