Why didn't I think of that! I have a another pump housing too! I also just had the thought to remove the oring, install the housing and then use some propane heat to loosen the the case a bit to ease the install. Thanks rattler! For sharing your method and getting my dang brain firing on all cylinders. Lol

I know the parts are to arrive tomorrow, hope they get there on time.
I checked earlier today and it's still on schedule for tomorrow. And no worries if they don't get here til Saturday. For the help you've provided in this rebuild you could've strapped the box to a raccoon and it would've been fair. Lol

Here is an option for bearing install. Install both bearings onto crank. That will require heating the bearings or use of force. Next heat the flywheel side case. Install crank in flywheel side of case. Heat the PTO side case. Install crank to PTO side. I use a heat gun for all the heating. This method works very well and the parts literally fall into place. Bearing depth for the oil pump will be spot on within a couple thousandths. I'm no expert but I've put a bunch of engines together and this works as easy as anything I've tried.

^^^^^ This is what I do, depending on heat gun, mine gets the bearings hot enough to slide on the crank just fine, but not the cases. So I end up using a propane torch for the cases. On both when heating when it just starts the residual oil to smoking, it's hot enough. Works for me, I like easy.
Also for anyone interested, Husqvarna does sell spray paint in Husqvarna Orange.

On my 281/288 conversion, I put my cases in an oven at 200 degrees for about 30 minutes, my bearings in the freezer over night, and they fell right in place. Then I used the Husqvarna tool to assemble everything. That same tool also works for seating the flywheel side crank seal to the proper depth.
