Mock up for color, I think it might drive me to drink. Gotta go to work in about an hour, I'll get started on assembly this evening

On my laptop now, and I still don't see a big issue with that color. Yeah, it's a little different shade of orange than the plastic pieces, but show me a Husky that isn't like that. I think it looks good!

^^^^^ This is what I do, depending on heat gun, mine gets the bearings hot enough to slide on the crank just fine, but not the cases. So I end up using a propane torch for the cases. On both when heating when it just starts the residual oil to smoking, it's hot enough. Works for me, I like easy.
Also for anyone interested, Husqvarna does sell spray paint in Husqvarna Orange.

I would bet that you need to use the propane torch to heat the cases due to the cases just being more metal that soaks up the heat. I would imagine you would have to have the heat gun on them quite a while to get the bearing bores warm enough to ease bearing installation and at that point the entire case half would probably be too hot to comfortably handle. I actually use a press to assemble my bottom ends, but I still use a propane heat on the bearing bores to ease bearing installation as much as possible.

Really could not get the cases hot enough with the heat gun I have(probably not the best out there by any means) seeing as I had a torch, this worked well, and I did not have to resort to my arbor press for final fit. Everything just dropped together, really was slick, just needed enough heat to go all the way before the opposing metal stripped enough heat away to make it shrink. It's not that I'm opposed to using a puller, with so many different saws to work on though, it is a considerable investment, one I would like to make some day.

Troof! A small fortune would be spent to equip one's self with every crank installer to do any saw. But boy that would sure make case assembly ALOT faster! I built a case separator awhile back, the design was pretty sound but the material was lacking. In the end I just bought the separator from my local dealer and have used it 5 or 6 times since. It has paid for itself :)

I just found out you can buy the correct color...ordered 2 cans today.

Thanks for all the assembly tips!

You got me wanting to take one of mine apart now, I guess I better figure out where @dustinwilt68 gets these parts. I've had a couple dealers tell me that stuff is NLA ! I guess they meant NLA in their store. I had considered buying one of those South American jobs but this is way more better! Thanks for this inspirational thread...

How did the oil pump trick work?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Didn't need the oil pump doing what we did. We installed the bearings on to the crank, then heated the bearing housings allowing the bearing to drop right in to it's seating depth. Worked that way both sides...smooth.... like a fish. :)
