Squish cut! Looks good!!!
Thanks Mike glad you like itLooks fantastic on that old KS
I use Carbide inserts that one is not tin coated but the next ones are mine are smoother if I spin faster this just the speed I like. Thank you for the kind words we try hard.@rattler very nice machine work on the jug. Looks like you have your speed and feed all figured out. Very very clean work. Are you using hss dimond insert or carbide? I am so impressed how the finish looks on the band. My bands are true and flat but I definatly have tooling marks compared to yours.
Dang right she cleaned up good and if you port it you will be surprised @dustinwilt68 can tell you first hand how strong one isSo here it is, have given it a wash, ordered a new pull handle, cord and crank seals, gonna go from there and see if she runs.

Lots of potential there especially with the mahle cylinder.Just caught up on this entire thread; I am inspired!
Picked up a 1997 288xp Lite last night. Runs and cuts/oils, going to be a overhaul and slight mod. Nothing crazy.

My carb/intake block isn't lining up with the cylinder flange when the cylinder is bolted down. I thought it might cause an air leak if I loosen the cylinder then tighten the carb bolts etc.I cut the extension on the cylinder that's it.View attachment 130823
