That's what that little blue button is for
It is an '88, and there's a decent chance Husky built it that way. Someone on here said they typically omitted the front a/v when the saw had a big front spring and it improved the vibes a lot, but I can't remember who said it.Hey crew. Picked up a 281xp to keep the 288's company. Looks to be in great shape. I gave her a cleaning, found a missing anti vibe screw and throttle linkage pin was backed out of one side. Otherwise A+ except clutch cover has a small hole from corrosion. Pulls hard and runs sweet. Think it's never been apart (except for fuel line). Questions, it a 1988? The front AV are not there and no evidence of ever being (4 rears are rubber), the screws are with square nuts? I was going to add some but figured leave it as is. Did husky built that way? Anyone know of a 12mm Stihl bar adapter that fits? 395 too big… White’s has one that looks like it will fit but it’s $25.

Picked up my 281 today, this thing is a very nice saw once the filth was taken off.
It was retired early in its life due to low compression, piston has scoring and cylinder has a small amount of transfer.
Whereabouts bro?Gidday from nz here to show off my 288 lo top hopefully is gonna be a hightop soon
Think he just wants the cover? Not the whole saw.If you're looking for a high-top, I might have one you may be interested in. Fully rebuilt, about 6 tanks of gas through
