Got the new K&S top end on the 288XP Lite. Squish w/o gasket was .022" and timing # 120* 100* 75* took the intake to 78* and left everything else alone. Put a carb kit in the Tilly and got her back together. Went to the woodpile to cut and make some cookies and put a few cuts on video. Sheared the flywheel key in the first 1" of wood. Another week of waiting begins........
In the end I did wait for the keys to arrive so I could have both a shaved key and the added security of a lapped flywheel. I did lap the flywheel with the compound to make sure it stayed put. Torqued it down to spec and that’s what she sounds like as a happy fatly tuned for break-in later this weekend.

Yes they are. Make sure you let the dogs catch before giving it all your might on the pull cord. Your recoil pulley will thank you.Put some fuel in it and she fired up in 3 pulls...kind of a bear with no compression release, haha
the "magnum" decal needs to go, imo.

Wow, I think that’s the cleanest 181 I’ve ever seen. Very nice.I know it’s not a 288...but close.
Thanks danHey John does your 288 have the small hole in the oil pump and used the small worm gear? If so there is a ring that pops out so you can run the larger updated worm gear. I cant help with the wire question! Hope this helps!![]()
