It’s going up for sale as a (mostly) complete parts saw. I just don’t have the time to part it out with our first kid on the way in under a month! That’s what I was thinking as well.
I think I’m going to part it out/sell it as parts.
Too many projects, and not enough time!

Certainly understand that. Congrats on the inbound kiddo, hope all goes well. It’s going up for sale as a (mostly) complete parts saw. I just don’t have the time to part it out with our first kid on the way in under a month!
I will be posting it for sale tomorrow, PM me of you want it before it goes up.

If I had other coils to try in my 288xp I would just to know if there is an alternative. I'm going to keep this in mind the next time I come across a Husqvarna of similar vintage with a single unit coil to see if it will fit and if it will work
Well the cylinder didn’t clean up as well as I had initially hoped. There were 2places where the plating was coming off, and slight almost invisible vertical grooves (beneath the plating???) Combined with the need to put an insert into the muffler bolt and the certain loss of the plating which would lead to a seized ring I decided to buy a new OEM P&C. View attachment 183567
That sucks. That happened to me once, completely my fault.Got the new K&S top end on the 288XP Lite. Squish w/o gasket was .022" and timing # 120* 100* 75* took the intake to 78* and left everything else alone. Put a carb kit in the Tilly and got her back together. Went to the woodpile to cut and make some cookies and put a few cuts on video. Sheared the flywheel key in the first 1" of wood. Another week of waiting begins........

@paragonbuilder what's the preferred timing advance for these 288's? I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. Why wait? Key is for alignment only. I’d lap the flywheel, then mark it, set it and tighten it down.

Yup that will do the trick. Lap until you have a nice uniform finish on the flywheel.like dis?

Lol! Smart arseLap until you have a nice fine uniform powder that is of larger volume than the flywheel that remains...
