It was at one time, long ago! I have a direct drive David Bradley, that uses that size. Found some chain at a local sharpening shop. When I tried to get another loop, years later, the owner's mind was failing. Sad, He told me to try Lowe’s.
7/16 was very common on many of the earlier direct drive saws. McCulloch supplied it on quite a few models and I have a couple of partial rolls in .063 and .058.
I do not believe I have found it on McCulloch saws but it was sold on a large amount of the off brand saws using the Power Products and West Bend engines.

I bet a dollar to a donut he was sharper than ya think and simply tired of jackaseses telling him they could get things cheaper at Lowes.
I hear it often when selling saws and parts...........I tell them to check the box store if my price is wrong
