No typo. The saw is firing btdc. Advance is less degrees before reaching tdc.

Advance, being relative to TDC is usually referred to the other way around isn’t it?
The further before TDC you fire the coil, the further advanced (timed) the coil is compared to TDC.
Or is my hat on bakkerds?

Top dead center hash is the next one below the fin that is fuzzy in the vid. Its sitting at idle in pic which is 25*. When revved flywheel rolls to the next hash lower.

If your hash marks are 5° and its idling at 25, if it rolls to the next hash up when you rev it, that would be 30. Which is about stock.

The limited coil on a 372/390 starts to advance around 3200-3300rpm and retards at idle to make starting easier from what I have seen. It’s a pretty abrupt change and if you have the idle set too high it makes the idle wonky as it goes in and out of advance. Not sure what stihl coils do or if the advance works the same.

I will be replacing this one with another. Joe was kind enough to let me borrow his setup from the 661 he deleted the mtron on.

I was having issue even getting it to run prior.
