462 vs 500i both ported.
I don’t know why but this graph bothers me. I’m Sure the 500i should be stronger. But didn’t realize porting results would leave that much difference. Especially with the 572 also making better numbers.
Haven’t seen either of them saws vastly outperform a 462. Id like to see a bigger pool of saws ran. Might be a dud.

I agree, but that is all the data I have at the moment. Maybe some others will perform better.

I have a theory on this. If you study the carburetor on the 462 compared to the other saws intake tracts it’s easy to see why it might be more limited in what it can gain once you start modifying it. The 462 has one small zama carburetor split into two like a 372xtorq does. The 572 has two completely separate throttle butterflies/venturies doing a similar task... more area, more air flow. The 500i has the biggest advantage with its added displacement and the large fuel injection throttle body intake setup. I do think the 462 is quite sporty out of the box stock. It might be limited for gain. This could be another factor. Just my two cents.

Neither of these two models are very notorious for huge gains. Most guys are pushing it to get 20% better times

There just isnt that much left in there on alot of the newest models. They are really doing an excellent job at the factory/in development. Look at the stock 572 graph, its impressive. 462 also, quite a snotty saw from the get go.

I now have 4 saws at CFB’s so there won’t be any new saws in the near future. I say that now, but if I ever get back to work, we’ll see.
Which 4 saws?
