I’d rather buy a ported 2171/372 over a hybrid just because of the filter and av are better. Similar snappy feel though. Jmho.

I'd rather have the Hybrid due to the rubber AV and Stihl durability, and the light weight (the new Stihls are not available here yet).

Weight of 460/461/7900/7910 are similar - around 14.5 - 14.75 lbs.

Many 044/440s and 372s are about 14 lbs.

IMO, the Hybrids, or a ported 372 (they run very strong) provide the best power to weight in their class.

7900/7910 is a 70cc class saw size and weight wise so it should be and is compared with others in that class. And it is a great saw they all are! I wish I was loaded I would have them all. Lots of excellent choices good times we have

How are you doing Bob, I'm sorry our paths did not cross this year. Always enjoy talking with you, and I did want to get to run a 572, even if I was not going to buy one!

Doing good Mike. Been a crazy busy year for sure. The Stihl dealer closing down the road has nothing to do with it, so I'm not sure where it's all coming from. (other than bars and chains, we aren't messing with the Stihls at all) Had a fantastic year with Exmark, and Gravely wasn't too shabby either. But ya know, the business wants to grow and we're at the stage where we don't need or want it to.

If these 572's actually show up in Feb, then it will make for the most interesting Feb we've ever had. Feb is traditionally a pretty dull month unless a couple big Noreasters run up the coast.

I've entered a couple small test orders in the system on the 565 and 572. Wanted to see if a glitch might allow something to sneak through and ship. That actually happened with the 555's a few years ago. Me and TK up in Maine each got some and then it was, "Hey they're not supposed to be shipping them yet." But no such mistake is happening this time I'm afraid. Dealer site will accept the order but states "not available for shipment until Jan 31."

One day if the timing is right I hope to get a 461 and it will have the mastermind full treatment of course. Just something about those 461s very cool saws. 372s are cool I have had both oe and x torque both MMWS. I liked them but liked the 562s better for what I was using them for. So I have high hopes for the 572/565

A good friend of mine called yesterday, he asked me where I bought my Tsumura's bars, he told me he want one for his brand new 572. I was shocked, he's a Stihl guy since many years and I knew he had a 462.

Apparently, after a few months with the 462, the saw started to be weaker and weaker. He told me a 562 was fastest.

I was really surprised, my coworker just bought a new 462 and it's at least as strong as my 572. But my friend told me he's not the only one, his co-worker and at least 3 other loggers have recently returned their 462's and replaced them with the Husky.

I don't know what's going wrong with the 462s, the dealer say there's too much power for the bottom end (???), another dealer said it's the fuel filter fault because it won't let pass enough oil after a few weeks, it should be replaced more often.

Stephan, did you heard same things in Germany? My coworker is pretty scared, he bought his one Monday...

Or an early indication that the extra weight and larger bearings in the 572 might turn out to have been a very wise choice. :)

But not enough info here, and it never does any good to fill in the blanks with our imaginations. Are they getting weaker cause they are losing compression up top? Are there bottom end issues? Have to wait and see what these dealers find when they tear down the saws and diagnose them properly.

Doubt very seriously it is anything more than an air filter or a fuel filter. A dirty air filter can really make a difference, and they get to a point when cleaning won't do it. If there is one thing Husky seems to have on Stihl, it is cleaner air to the filter.

Better send you to Europe with a train load of filters...stat.

If I see evidence of something more serious I will believe it, but otherwise I have learned most of the time defaulting to the simple stuff pays off.

What end user would want to return a new saw, and what dealer would accept such a return, because of a dirty filter?

Bob, you are a welcome exception. Most of the Dealers around here sell lawn mowers, and hardly know anything about saws. (that includes both brands).

It is like the horror stories you hear about the 661, then they sell it to Julian and the saw is just fine!

Thanks for the kind words Mike. Most dealers up here are just like those down by you. Saws are "over there in the corner somewhere."

But my point was that saws simply don't get returned to the dealer because of a dirty filter any more than they would be returned because the chain got dull. End users, especially pro guys, wouldn't think that way. And no dealer is going to accept a return on a saw if the only thing wrong with it is a dirty filter. Has to be something more than that if saws are actually being returned.

We all just have to be patient and wait for more detailed information to come out. But I'm sure we'll see plenty of guesses before we see the facts.

Time will tell on both models.
