Wow an interesting thread! So much has happened while I've been away...:) Think I will get the 572 when they arrive. Bunch of folks up here waiting for them. It would be nice to have a saw to let them see. Think the concept of "teething" issues with new technology has been hashed to death (did a video on that a year ago, CAD/CAM and saw evolution the subject , but how real life in the field evolves a product the concept) . Not to be a pain, but suspect Stihl will do as Husqvarna already have done, learn and evolve that new saw should it actually have issues (ALWAYS a question when the information is sourced online) until its right. Doubt customers will be left hanging. Question I asked a while ago and will ask again is will the "updates" retro back to the early versions as Husqvarna did with the 562's? Or will there be that 361, 362, 362 second version concept where each iteration is an individual. TIME will tell.

A good friend of mine called yesterday, he asked me where I bought my Tsumura's bars, he told me he want one for his brand new 572. I was shocked, he's a Stihl guy since many years and I knew he had a 462.

Apparently, after a few months with the 462, the saw started to be weaker and weaker. He told me a 562 was fastest.

I was really surprised, my coworker just bought a new 462 and it's at least as strong as my 572. But my friend told me he's not the only one, his co-worker and at least 3 other loggers have recently returned their 462's and replaced them with the Husky.

I don't know what's going wrong with the 462s, the dealer say there's too much power for the bottom end (???), another dealer said it's the fuel filter fault because it won't let pass enough oil after a few weeks, it should be replaced more often.

Stephan, did you heard same things in Germany? My coworker is pretty scared, he bought his one Monday...

Mike, it's not an air filter issue. Everybody knows the HD2 filters could be an issue, and I most of guys are even using the Stihl liquid filter cleaner now.

I bet they tried to replace the filter before everything else.

Honestly, I really don't know what happened, everything I heard about the 462 until now was good or really good. And each time I used one it was a pleasure.

There’s bound to be a few growing pains and I hope they get it sorted out. Anxious to see what the issue is, I’m sure by the end of this the speculation storm we will have about 17 concrete myths floating around...lol

Would like to see it side by side with a 372xp.
Would like to see weights (either PHO, or same bar/chain, both dry or full up on fluids) against a 372xp.

No shipping yet but the system is now taking orders for both saws. I ordered 50 XP's and 10 XPG's to get started. Orders will ship in the order they are received, and I'm 2nd or 3rd in line from what I can tell. Have some 565's on order also.

Im curious as to what the inside of the 565 and 572 jugs look like and measure up porting wise. Im also interested in ready to cut weight compaired to a 365 or 372 oe or xt with the same b&c. These pho and dry weights mean nothing to me sibce i havnt found a way to use a saw with no oil fuel or b&c on it. I would also like to see them hanging by the fron handle with said b&c installed to show balance. Nice saw congratulations.

I really liked the feel of the 572 with a 28" b&c, probably the nicest feeling saw I've had my hands on. I will say it's not a small saw and does have some weight to it, the balance seems offset that though.

That X-cut chain is supposed to be significantly faster. I got a sample loop in .325 from my husky rep earlier this year. I was hoping for some 3/8ths but he said it wasn't available in the states yet. I just had a chance to use it and I'm impressed. Maybe you could do a comparison with some other chains if you have time.

Fantastic thread there @Spike60 i read every post very informative thread I have heard of issues similar to the ones stated about the 462 but nobody is elaborating on it.I personally love both saws have seen both as are already available in Australia for the last few months ,I would personally prefer a stronger bottom end over a small weight saving my own personal thought is the 462 won’t last as long as the 572.PS I could be wrong it wouldn’t be the first time

One not so happy item to report is that those "too low to believe it" prices on the 565 were mistakes that have been corrected upwards. WAY up.

When I first saw them there were priced the same as the 365, and had that held, we would be able to sell a 565 for $200 less than the 572. But as it looks now, they will only be about $60 less than the 572. Sort of turns it from a great deal to a dud.

They must not want to sell any 565s then

Yeah I would go for a 572 over a 565 for the 60 dollar difference and the price on the 572 is a good deal so no real loss there, just makes the 565 a lot less interesting

If it means anything, our prices are usually round about a dollar for euro match, so a saw that sells for $700 in the US will be about 700Eu here. That being said, the prices were quite high when the 565 and 572 were first released.

Now the prices are stabilized much lower than initial release. The 565 is currently being advertised for around 115 EU cheaper than the 572.
