The MK1s had a lean fuel curve straight out of the factory as late as 2016-2017 when mine was produced. Once I had my AT updated in 2019, all start/restart problems went away. The idle fuel curve was fattened up, no need for a high idle to restart.

Cold starts: do not use the decomp on the MK1s, it somehow interferes with what the earlier version of AT was trying to do at cold start/restart.

It has bog unless you let it idle for awhile. I guess it’s okay if you are patient but if you are cutting roads open you want to get in and out

I put this smashed 261C together after parts became more affordable; BGD and an extra muffler outlet. I'm pleased with it's power and rpm .

Parts are still brutal. That 661 intake boot was over $80. I buy every 261, 271, 291 carcass I can scavenge. Just top covers are all $80 for the 261. I ended up buying standard carb covers to get something cheaper

The peoole who part saws on ebay have kind of drawn my ire at this point.

If you're going to sell individual parts, how about you at least clean them?

This is a pretty Karen thing to say. eBay is the free market. If it's dirty, you pay less. If you pay the same, why clean it?

If the seller wants to sell it, they will sell it. If not, they'll do that. It's their shït, I don't see the problem. But then again I don't wake up looking for things to be aggrieved about...

I do. The 661 parts I got lucky on and got everything but the boot and some av parts new take offs. I let the 261s sit until the cheap covers popped up. My problem is I have a surplus of parts for other saws that I never touch “just in case” I bought up tons of Jonsered stuff when they were done and only ever run my 2186. I probably have twenty 2152 saws in pieces buried. That cheap flywheel puller did a lot of work and held up great.

I always tried to get everything cleaned up before selling it. It’s harder to claim it’s not as described or whatever they try when you can see everything.

There is a 461 on ebay rn being sold completely covered in filth. It's a lot w/ 3 other saws, one being a 261...

...and the most important thing is to buy from a serious dealer who has skilled mechanics on staff.

That is one of my main decision reasons, living in the boonies, I don't need to be driving long distances for decent support.

Thankfully a really good dealer locally.

It was a relief when I started to hear it was a thing they all do, I bought mine used and thought it had issues.
