Op sorry missed this post. Well let's see if this helps. Those are all excellent choices you have chosen. Not a thing wrong with any of them. But i can tell you that you can buy the dolmar ported for not much more than a new 261cm. Is that helpful! :)

That was what I was thinking.

What is the price on a new 5105?

If I was looking for a 50cc I would be all over the Jonsered 2252C. LCS has them right now for around $380 PHO. That seems like a smoking deal to me!

Edit: Hmmm, I was a bit quick there. Thought this was same as XP, but I think that is the 2253 model.

Not to rain on a Dolmar.......cause I like em ya know. But I'm really diggin the 550XP these days. That said......I've not but a load of time on any one saw in a good while.
Ya won't rain on any of my parade. ;)

This is what I sell so I can offer the best deal on them.

Not even sure what a new 550xp is worth! :)

I'll say this. If anyone reading this has any doubts about dealing with Miller Mod Saws........forget those doubts. Carl and I have been dealing on saws and parts for a pretty good while now. All I worry about is Carl shorting himself. Yeah.......he's that damn good to do business with.

As far as runing 20" 3/8's on a 50cc saw, I did my own comparisson with my mmws 2153 and mmws ms261cm.

Weight:
Both saws feel noticeably heavier wearing 20" 3/8's bars. Since the 261 is a bit of a pig already, it felt even more heavier. The 2153 on the other hand, didn't feel that bad at all and seemed to balance good.

In wood:
The 261 didnt pull as good as the 2153. Was it horrible? Nope, but yes it was noticeable.

I normally run 18" .325 on both those saws. That bar setup makes those saws feel alot more nimble.

I dont understand why some of you guys run those dinky little 16" bars on your 50cc saws lolol. I want the most reach possible. Not to mention, having more reach means less times i have to bust out the big dawwgs and not having to bendover as far.

The next combo id like to try on both saws is 20" .325.

Even though my comparisson was on ported saws, the stock vs ported performance isnt that far off. I feel porting a saw makes a saw go from good to Great!!! I think some people lose touch of the reality that your not bumping up the cc's, so dont expect the saw to be something totaly. Thats a different topic for another day.

Happy Easter!!!!

I'll second that! Carl's a hell of a guy! Cheers to a grape sailor!
