I wonder if the minimal gains are due to the fact that the RWJ is designed to run with the strato divider in the carb. I removed the divider in my 372XT carb and have been considering putting it back in to see what it does.

Could be. The idle wasn't perfect on the 390. I put a walbro 118 back on and it was fine. They work fine on the 7900 without it though.

As I understand it the devider for the RWJ on the 372XT is in the intake, and not in the carb - so it shouldn't affect how the carb works on other models?

Divider is in between the butterflies as well. I've got 4 of them here without the divider

OK, that's what I originally thought - but some apparently inaccurate info had convinced me otherwise later.
This has been discussed a few times, without that devider ever being mentioned (that I can recall) - so I am quite surprised by this info.

They come with a divider. If you gut the intake you can feed the stratos with fuel.

I have one on my OE 372 with the divider still in it.
I have friend that put one on a 390 and left it in also.
Is there anything to gain with them out?

Nope. Leave it in. They idle better with it in and gain pretty well nothing with it out.

I would think with it in would help keep the velocity up.
But that's just me thinking out loud.

It does something. The carb has 3 jets in it. I need to get some smaller bits and play with the aux jet size some.

My brother XP_Slinger has the divider removed in the elbow and carb on his ported 372XT. It runs very well, even idles stable. Last I knew he was thinking about putting the divider back into the carb and see what if any difference it makes.

They idle fine on most of the 70cc saws I've put them on. It's weird it didn't idle right on the 390. It was a brand new carb at that.

Yup...the 372XT has a complete division of airflow for the strato ports. Air filter elbow, carb, intake boot and cylinder intake.
