I wonder if you could add a couple of drops of strait 2 stroke oil down the spark plug hole ?, to really seal those rings. I can't imagine that wouldn't raise the case pressure?
Just a thought.

Plugged it in, told me it had thousands of start attempts, recalibrated it, ran it, watched it die. Told me it needed a new cylinder. I asked him to explain why. He said because that’s what worked with the last one.

But I’m being stubborn. I’m going to try the baro first. It’s cheaper and makes more sense to me. The saw seems to be shutting itself off. A false pressure reading could do that. Could be the main coil/processor too. I just can’t see why a clean bore with fresh rings would cause a fault.
if you can, have them plug it in and run the sensor tests, last 500i that i had in the shop had a bunch of issues, one of which was a baro/crankcase temp sensor reading -40 degrees celsius at all times, which was causing a no start... never did get it fixed though, as it needed a module, clutch side crankcase half, injector, and sensor....LOL the things that happen when a saw gets run over by a truck...

New control module didn’t fix it. New stator did. I don’t think the main ring of the stator was bad, I think there was a wire break somewhere.

Kind of a nightmare saw. I replaced the injector, the P&C, the module, the baro sensor and finally the stator. Roughly $900 in parts.

The crazy thing was, I called the owner when I finally got it running. He said he didn’t want it and I could have it for my trouble. So now I have a completely rebuilt 500i.

Normally the 500’s are pretty solid saws so now that it’s fixed run the crap out of it. One thing I’ll say is all the people that use impact drivers to remove flywheel nuts and clutches ect don’t on the 500’s. For some reason they don’t seem to like the vibration and it will take out the stattor.

I really like the saw but it feels delicate to me. I wish it had a proper wire harness like a 201t. Good to know about using the rattle gun.

Not as delicate as you think local tree guys aren’t real nice to them and they’re doing well. Still has the first one from Greece, no idea how many starts now but last I looked had about 5700 starts and 15,000 rope pulls. Completely wore out one rewind

You’ll like the saw better with the West Coast AV set. Takes all the wiggle out of it.
