Awesome saw! That video just helped me make up my mind on whether or not I want to go through the trouble of putting a 460 cylinder on the 440 I'm building.
A 46/44 is a POTENT rig. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, myself included. It takes additional work but they rip.

The hybrids are fun to run. Light weight, lightening fast throttle response and gobs of power. I prefer the Stihl saws. I get a better feel of what I'm cutting. Don't get me wrong, I have a 262XP that is plush. Silky smooth with the springs and all. Just comes down to personal preference.

There's one other factor to think about too. I know in Daniel's area, it gets quite hot in the summer. The 044 crankcase doesn't take heat soak as well the 372 case. I know this from running both saws extensively on the big fires.

Good point sir. I didn't really think of that. I only speak from first hand knowledge from cutting in my area. And if it's that hot out, I just don't bother cutting.

Very good point JJ. You have mentioned this before with the comparison of the 390 vs 395.

I can confirm this. I’ve used the 440 extensively on wildland fires, and also for vertical ventilation on structure fires. The crankcases will start to leak after a couple of really hot suppers.

I’ll add this, albeit in an edit after the initial post: I have zero experience on fire with Husqvarnas other than the 395, but I think that it’s very telling that Tempest and Cutter’s Edge used a Husqvarna or Jonsered as their base for a vent saw and why Stihl always used the MS 46x as their vent saw.

Sell the MS250. Keep both 70cc saws.

CFB Hybrid running a 32" bar Red Oak.
The MS250 isn't going anywhere yet, that is my go-to saw for the sub-60cc class so far. Maybe once I get the 026 or 350 running I'll change my mind and send it on it's way, but in spite of the interwebz bashing I've found that my MS250 is an awesome little saw. Heck, I dropped a 95' fir with it once!

Get the 026 running. It'll make that 250 obsolete. Lol
I prefer the 025-ms250 over the 026 most of the time. It just feels way lighter, snappier, pretty near as powerful with a 16inch bar. I have been running both for decades. I haven't hurt an 025 yet as far as engine failure as well as an 026. Both are very good saws but from what I experienced the 025- ms250 go well beyond the mark of a casual users saw.

The recoil bits showed up last night and I just ran the two of them against each other. Crosscutting 26 inch oak the hybrid was way faster, but with the bar buried in a cedar log the 372 had the most consistent power. The hybrid would either scream or nearly stall while the W just held a pretty consistent rpm. Another thing I noticed was the vibes from the Stihl. I had a surgery done a few weeks ago on my left hand, and it did not like the Stihl after ~2 minutes of cutting while the Husky didn’t irritate it at all. I’d like to find a 32 inch dia log to crosscut with both saws before I make a final decision, though.
