I know this question is a bit subjective, but currently I have a 372XPW and a 440/460 CFB hybrid, both set up with 32 inch bars and 3/8 chain. I'm trying to thin out my saw collection to a reasonable number and I realized I have two fairly similar saws, and I'm curious to hear which one you guys would recommend keeping if I had to sell one. Currently the XPW isn't ported, but I do plan on having it ported eventually. Assuming the XPW was ported too and I wanted a saw that could easily pull a 32 inch bar in both hardwoods and softwoods, which one would you pick?
edit: Parts availability/cost can be included in your arguments.

I started building the 044/046 hybrids early on and found that they run good, either stock or ported, but seem happiest in western softwoods with a 28" or 30" bar. I've made a living in the woods with 71 and 75cc 372s as well and found that the XPW when ported is happier with a 32" bar than a hybrid would be.

I have not run a version of either saw mentioned above, so take my response as such. Knowing that the 372XPW cylinders are NLA, I would probably hold onto the hybrid and part ways with the XPW. Would it be out of the question to sell the XPW and pick up a 390xp instead?

Yeah, I had a 28 on the hybrid until I saw that my local shop had somehow found a 32" lightweight bar in 0.050, the counter guy was surprised they had it and I couldn't leave without it. Maybe I'll need to start a ported 272 vs hybrid thread to cover the 28" class.

I have a spare XPW slug and I wouldn't be opposed to converting to a 50mm top end should the need arise. I've never run a 390, but I have a ported 181 that fills my 36" class nicely and I'd think the 390 would be closer to the 36" realm while the 372's are 28/32" material.

Antivibe, air filtration, parts availability/cost, and handling all go to the 372 imo.

A well ported XPW is quite a mean saw! I think a spicy hybrid might be my pick for a gtg only saw but for working I think I would take the 372.

Got me a ported 272, if I was being objective I’d sell both the W and the hybrid and only keep the 272.
Hell do that, my driller 272 has got some serious grunt. I had a stock xpw once for a short period and i dont remember it tickling me like the 272. Now a ported xpw might be alot better, but i dont have any experience.

I would keep the XPW based on JJ recommendations and its rarity.
The hybrids are appealing but not the golden ticket they once were as far as parts availability.
The XPW is only gonna be orginal once after that its just another saw.

I've never run a 44/46 hybrid, but have run plunty of 44 and 46's.
If I was out cuttin timber gyppo style, my first choice would be a ported ms460. A close second would be the 372. I actually fell timber with both about 12 years ago, the husky needed constant attention to screws, keeping them tight, but it ran smooth. The 460 was strong and reliable, just the air filter sucked and alot more vibs. Both saws I had during that time was stock muffler modded.
