Whilst I was pondering the two saws I found another variable I hadn’t considered. These days, ~90% of the time when I’m running a saw it is in conjunction with an excavator or dozer, and I’m usually just cutting off footballs, bucking the trunks, etc. and I’m usually kept pretty busy until the job is done. As such, my chain has a tendency to get mildly dull before the cutting is done, which means I’d want a saw with more grunt and a more consistent powerband as opposed to a higher-revving saw. With a max cutting speed of 9600 rpm, I think the W will have an edge in that regard.

Use semi-chisel chain.
I should, but I've only bought 2 chains in all my limited time of running saws, and I have a 50+ loops of chisel chain for my saws. Once I burn through some of that, I think I'll start adding loops of semi-chisel to my stash.
