So she fired up first pull this morning. I don’t get it, it may have been the 2 stroke oil I put on the rings and piston to install. The plug didn’t agree with it and I flooded the crap out of it. I do know I may order a new carb for it. It’s just finicky and that would be the last piece to the rebuild. I got 2 saws on a trade deal and made this one. New bearings, new seals, now new piston. Might as well go all the way and get a new carb and call it new. Thanks for all the help you guys here are the best no doubt. Best forum out there thank you.

Run it in the wood for a few hours and see how the carb responds. Does it tune, idle, spool up 4 stroke ect...then decide if It needs newing up the carby...real common to flood a fresh rebuild...old settings may not love the new jug and slug. It happens.

It idles didn’t get on it too hard, gonna run a couple heat cycles. I turned the low up then down it really doesn’t want to die when I go down with it. I turned the hi rich and you can hear it not want to get up so I have it at 1 1/2 out for the time being on both. I’ll idle it until warm a couple more times and put her in the wood and make the decision after that. It does feel more responsive then before so at least I’m on track. I’ll run a compression check after I put it in the wood the first time.

Grip it and rip it tater chip... it starts and runs reasonably well. Ring it out like it's intended to be run-full open scare the neighbors chit... make sure all the systems work as intended....*s-word will break...you will fix it.... no biggie.

I’ll fix it even if it’s not broke :D that’s what got me in this situation. Got a piston sitting on the shelf, compression is 125, screw it let’s change it out. ;)

So I got a new carb, and the red pipes that insert into the screw holes on each side. Oh and I replaced the oring on the pto side under the bushing, just because. Did a pressure test and it was dropping just a smidge. I think I may order a bushing, washer and the plastic gear drive. It looks like if any of that is worn just a little it could be a plroblem forever. The saw came from another firewood yard and was pretty used up.
But she’s running tuned in and I love her now.
