So where did the xtorq end up...did you lower the exhaust? I'm doing one today, thinking of not touching the ports ... maybe just widen the lower transfers and grind on the intake port a bit like you did.

Well, Josh's XT ended up running just as strong as my XPW. I don't recall the numbers, but he did raise exhaust and transfers, as well as widened the exhaust. He has been busy with other things and hasn't been on here much lately. Next time I talk to him I'll ask him to post up a summary of what he did

cool .... i don't think i'm gonna go crazy on my current build...but i'd love to see what he did.

so far I've measure stock squish at .030... so a base gasket delete isn't going to work. I cut the case down by .020 and cut a .010 popup.... this should end me at .020 squish with a gasket.

i'll polish the xhaust, intake a bit, and gut the intake manifold.... open the muff, and call it a day. :)

I'd have to look, but I think he posted what he did to the XT step by step in this thread...

Funny how different squish can be from one saw to the next, even with the same model. I know he was able to delete his base gasket and came in low 20s.

The removable transfer covers proved to make grinding the transfers to set timing, width, and angle an absolute breeze for him... that I do remember.

Deleting the base gasket put my saw at .024 squish.
Port timing - 98 / 117 / 77
Widened exhaust to 31mm (62% of bore)

I also flared the lower transfers, took A LOT of material out of the entire transfer passage from the bottom to the window, gutted all of the strato dividers and completely reshaped the intake between the boot and port window. Word of caution: DO NOT widen the intake port window the way you would on an OE 372. There is only 1mm of material (.5mm on each side) that keeps the intake closed without opening the piston strato cut outs.

Hope this helps you out and gives you an idea of what you want to do with your saw. If you want more detail and pictures I documented this build in a Forestry Forum thread titled "372XP X-Torq Modding". It's a start to finish thread with pictures and some really good info from a builder with lots of X-torq experience. Good luck and have fun
