So nothing more on this build?.
He's bannedSo nothing more on this build?.
I can take a pic of the crank cases and the base of the cylinder will that help you
@Mattyo did you use a New West big bore for the 046bb? How did it run? I'm still thinking about a 272 on a 2159 - looking for lighter
I used a dukes big bore cylinder then I bored it to 55mm and used my piston plus it’s a lot better platting the saw was a animalI used the 460bb kit from the duke.... got 210psi with cabers and just optimizing squish. Its one of the nicest running saws I've made...and I've only just started it. Super zippy ...up to top rpm and holds. Very nice. Numbers were way off to start but I ended up at 103 125 80. Can't drop the head any more because it'll Freeport. Takes lots of fitup....but it did fit.![]()
This is a 066 kit saw I put a 084 cylinder and a big bored it to 62mm it’s 121.7 cc saw light and powerful and a beast
For what it's worth:Got any pix of how u got the transfers to line up? The gaskets on the 372 and 385 are quite different
Really nice work, now I want to see some pics of that twin pipe saw in your avatar. This is a 066 kit saw I put a 084 cylinder and a big bored it to 62mm it’s 121.7 cc saw light and powerful and a beast
We all have to learn from our mistakes I think it looks good I ruined 1 cylinder before I had a running saw even after doing four cylinders now I’m still trying new things with this setup I have one now I putting a 084 stihl carb onFor what it's worth:
I hogged the front transfers out to make them line up. There's alot of material that can be removed. Also narrowed the front skirt. It did take some throttle response due to velocity losses. If I were to do it again I'd leave them alone or add to the case side cutouts.
I used a cheap hutzl 390 cylinder+piston, caber rings, 2mm spacer plate, 390gasket + sealant, 066 rod 36mm 372 crank, china 395 carb, and junk 2015 372XT cases bored to fit the 390 skirt. Ended up with .021 squish 100ex, 125t, 77in. Cut transfers to 120. So far it only free revs to 12100. Before porting it ran 10500 free and in the cut with 24" full comp square at 9-9500 green hard maple.
Real machining and quality parts would've been helpful to keep case volumes down and play with squish. I ended up with 125lbs compression so it's no real powerhouse.
For a hack job it's decent and a good learning experience. It's become an ongoing project now on hiatus as I've shifted focus towards my dirtbike project and have no real need to cut wood neither is any available close to my residence.
