Once the Case cools it’s time for the new crank seals. But first drop some oil on the bearings so they’re not dry on the first start.

I check to make sure it seared nice and even. If not you’ll have a massive air leak.

What size is that o ring?

I have a hyway seal kit at home for this saw. Not sure if The ring was included.
Hmmmm I’m not sure. I used an OEM gasket kit and it wasn’t included. I know the hyway kit includes the muffler gasket and OEM doesn’t, maybe you’ll get lucky and hyway kit includes the seal as well.

Knowing my luck it's probably a mismarked kit lol.

Once again, thanks for the Parts @Jon1212 and @Onan18 . This would’ve taken longer were it not for ya’lls generosity. I hope I can repay or at least pay it forward in the future.
If you're lumping me in with Joe, then I am in good company.

The only thing I still need to get is muffler bolts which I can hopefully acquire tomorrow at fastenal.

51/55 muffler bolts will work on these.
Looks a little funny with the squares on the front but theres enough meat to grind them down to a 5/16 (8mm) hex.
Most everybody has a carcass or four of those laying around...

Them metal seal container can be used to set the flywheel bearing in correct depth, it has the same dimension as the service tool has (#502 50 30 10).

PTO seal is 1.5mm above the surface, not sure how deep it can be set before the seal start to have fun with the bearing

I did start it briefly with no muffler and she lives! Braaap ba bap bap bap! It’s not pretty yet but that will come in time. Sorry I missed some stuff in the assembly like the choke lever. I swore I took all the pictures I needed but I guess not. I’ve got some other stuff like rebuilding the carb and a comparison of the meteor piston to OEM that I’ll post in a little while.

Excellent clean and mechanically great build here Josh. I loved my 254, it was my baby. I was naive and thought it was too old and sold it on. I think if they improved the AV and threw away the EPA rule book then it would still be a great saw for the current market.

Btw FWIW I would liberally brush on some 2 stroke mix all over those plastics and leave it overnight to evap the fuel and then buff the residue off with a cloth by hand. Oil with the fuel seems to penetrate the plastic pretty well over night and will bring back some of its colour and lustre.
