Got the rear end assembled. New clutches in the posi, new bearings and all clean. I have 4 axles for this truck and all of them have damage on the bearing surface. Looks like im going to have to put repair bearings in it. :(. New axles run about 300 for the set. im running low of funds and still have to buy cab mounts and other stuff i haven't found wrong yet!

What clutch packs did you use? I am getting ready to order some for my 10.5 sterling and was leaning toward Yukon.

I just got stock replacements from oriellys. They were 85 bucks and surprisingly made in the USA! Nothing crazy. I hear the carbon ones are real aggressive.

You got that right ! I still cant believe the 28 year old 230000 g80 in the Burban is still kicking.

Mine lived a hard life of sitting and little maintance. Also was a farm truck from day one and then an additional 20 years. So the clutch packs were worked. They also stacked them weird from the factory.

Friction, steel, steel, friction, steel, steel, friction, shim.

I restacked them like they should be steel, friction, steel, steel, friction, steel, friction, shim.

They had a friction plate right on the spider without a steel plate. There is only half the surface area on the gear itself. Needless to say both frictions directly on the gears where worn off. Had no posi action at all.
