They asked me about porting some saws for them after Andrew got away from it. I told them if they would use a OEM 1.2mm ring in their slugs I might consider it. Never heard anything else. LOL
I'm not crazy about the thin ring either but my 371 runs pretty darn good with that piston. I'm sure the ring life isn't gonna be there. Seems most thin ring pistons in the past have been phased out. I know the 930 thin rings were prone to sticking.

I will have a CCC XPW piston to play around with in the near future.

Edit: after looking through Dave's store it seems a lot of these pistons are running the 1mm ring. Maybe wiseco knows something we don't?? I guess time will tell. The fact that they chew through Stihl plating would suggest that they're made from a harder material so maybe long term durability isn't an issue. These are "race" pistons so more frequent tear downs could be expected.

The 1 mm ring won't run on the plating in Stihl jugs. Eats it.....

So......if they are serious about building saws for the masses, they need to take a good hard look at that.

Now that Dave has this new wiseco line they might not have to worry about it. Lol

Yeah that does suck, but for a race saw which these pistons are designed for. Should be plated anyway

I bought one of the "new" style Meteor 066/660 pistons a while back and wanted to compare it to one of the new Wiseco pistons that Dave is offering.

I also have one of the original dual-ring Wiseco pistons that Bailey's was selling years ago.

The fit and finish on Dave's piston is by far the best. The Bailey's piston isn't bad. The Meteor piston is decent, but not on the level of the Wiseco slugs (as to be expected).

Dave's piston is in the middle.

Is the dual ring Wiseco 1mm rings still?
