The above I waited too long and the wind did it for me The hitch is on a 50-60 foot log that believe it or not the old Fergy pulled it like it was a feather .I've got another two or three that need dropped . The wind did a wonderul job right near the splitter .

A standing dead oak can hang on a long time before the wind gets it .A hickory on the other does not .About like a dead ash, maybe 5 years if that long .Unless they present a hazard I don't get real excited about it .

It's down, along with a White Oak and a Sassafras. The last two were still alive but leaning way over towards the house. I had them take all three down while they were here.

Pics later.

Shagbark pile; still no main trunk. The Ash I cut down last week with my Council Tool Jersey and Boy's Axes are visible right, bucked up:

Thanks for looking!

You might take note on hickory you will want to process it rather quickly .Unlike oak it doesn't take weather very well .Real good fire wood though .

TO 20,1951 big bore kit that somebody painted red .
I have a 51' also. I should look at my serial number to confirm. My mind says I did once and that's why I think it is 51'. Same age as Randy @Mastermind

I've got a 1950 model also with a midwest hydraulic lift and a barrel full of concrete for a counter weight .Reinforced front axle with fat Jeep tires on the front .It will lift more weight than you can steer it . Too much lift for a tractor of that size . It's also got a big bore kit .
The story behind that one is I ran that thing since I was 13 years old and bought it from the owner some 12-15 years later for $250 Had a cracked block which I welded back together .Still runs like a top .Better than me .I was brand new in 1948 but I don't run as good as I once did .

I don’t think you got fleeced if they used a bucket truck. Not the best sign that the operator doesn’t have PPE, but that’s country tree work. Glad you got it dealt with successfully.

Mine is a 51'. 51k serial. I think I looked it up 12 years ago when I bought it. Best damn piece of equipment, that and my cub from the same year. Will be interesting to see some of this new stuff in 70 years. Not that I will be around to see it. Lol
