404 is more than most saws need.
Doesn't matter how well it runs it,it's hard on bearings and clutches.
084 and 088 are designed for it though.

I run a 404 8pin on 90cc saws all the time but it's for a video and just to show that it will. No way would I try to work with it.

In @Brewz video I wonder how she'd run with a 7 tooth sprocket.
She didn't sound too happy with 8 tooth and that particular log.
Just a thought, nice video!

I think it's the 404 chain demanding all the torque it can muster up. I've run ms 880 with 3/8 in hard wood and it was happy with that. Run a 404 and the saw was not so happy especially running a long bar

The 404 is fine on these big saws. It was the 8 tooth that made it so brutal.
I put an 8 on it to get it running and rough tuned as I had no spare 7's and when I got it to the log, I thought, ahh what the hell, lets test this big girl out.

I will be running a 7 tooth full time for work, and maybe warm up the 8 tooth with a 21" hard nose ripping posts.

In Australian timber, especially big hard dead termite dirt lined stuff like in my video, 3/8 won't last a tank of fuel and I took care of the entire tree on 404 without needing to sharpen, although the last 2 cuts were starting to dust.

I think it will go a lot better on a 7 tooth

Well another suggestion when it comes to dirty wood is a semi chiz chain. They might not win a race but they will hold up in dirty wood and hold up on timber that has been down for some time with dirt splashing up from rain. And if your set on a full chiz chain maybe try sharpening them at a 25 degree or even a 20 degree angle. Might sound odd but it is more resilient to dulling up especially when your doing low stump cuts.

1305 or 1306 I think
There was an earlier unlimited coil that had a seperate ignition module that 1303 or there abouts

I sent you a link to where vince has fitted an 066 coil quite easily
I’m really interested in this 066 conversion. Is there more info on this?

Ive never done it but I think the 66 coil goes in upside down and an adapter bracket needs to be made as the holes don't line up
Thank you. My dealer was actually able to order me the coil I needed, I was surprised. 1124-400-1308
