The last one I bought was a bosch brand. It was $30, it worked good till it did this. I agree it does look cheap in the picturebut it looks pretty heavy duty, I'll compare it with a buddies. As I understand it all comp Guages are wrong, you just use them to give you something to go by. I like to think I know what good compression feels like but it is nice to be affirmed.

Concerning comp testers, I have a cheapo HF unit, and initially it worked ok. Now I have three high compression(180,200 and 230ish)saws and the gauge won't climb over 150 no matter what saw its on. It doesn't leak down, just won't ever go past that 150 mark.

I could pull twenty times, cuss and swear, pull anther twenty, still 150. I may or may not have done the above and may or may not have done it more than once.

Looks just exactly like the one @idiotwithasaw had pictured above. Hope you have good luck with it.

And concerning Dave and the saw, I think it's way too early to concede.
If said saw ends up chucked out in the yard in absolute disgust, then I say you've been conquered, sir. Not until then.

Besides, all of us want to see that damn thing eat a cant. Now, if it cant eat, we want to see it get chucked. That means more video Dave, don't disappoint us dammit:crybaby2:

idiotwithasaw's comment about changing the starter assembly reminded me of the main problem that caused my 357/272 to do the hard pull thing . It had a little bit of hardened grime around and under the recoil spring causing too much friction to rotate the crank past half a pull. I pulled the spring and cleaned it all up and I was very surprised how much a difference it made.

not what I would have picked that looks very low quality, though looks aren't what makes a tool work of course, save your receipt and make sure there is a good Schrader valve in the tip

Innova actually makes some pretty nice products. I've not had my paws on one of these gauges but I wouldn't write it off just on looks. I have a snap on at work and a cheapie at home. The cheapie works great. The snap on is stuck at 30lbs. It looks like a very nice gauge but apparently not as good as it looks.
