I kinda figured that is what it was but now I have to figure out how to measure it.
Oh please do tell meWith a piece of solder.
Take out the plug and stick the solder in. Rotate the piston to TDC a couple of times. Remove the solder and measure it.
Get some thin solder and bend a small u in it , place a little dab of grease on both sides of risk pin and intake and exhaust.place solder u in grease as close to piston edge as possible. Bolt jug down turn flywheel by hand till you can hardly feel them anymore. Pull jug and mike the flat endsI kinda figured that is what it was but now I have to figure out how to measure it.
Thin electrical solder like from the automotive dept at Walmart. Comes in a spiral tube. Run the flywheel back and forth many times over it, until you barely feel it. Like 10 or 12 times. Then measure it.Oh please do tell me
Any recommendations on brand of sealant?Remove the cylinder and the base gasket between the cylinder and the case. Put the cylinder back on using a good quality sealant for 2 strokes.
Any recommendations on brand of sealant?
Using that sealant everything must be completely oil free and clean clean cleanAnaerobic Gasket Maker (like Permatex 518**) ordered! We are going to get this 044 humming!. The carb tune is going to be interesting. Might have to see if anyone is close to me when I get this done.
+10I love my 044. Delete the base gasket, get a duel port cover, and shave the flywheel key .020 to advance the timing and that saw will make you smile.
I agree. This is my first 044 and I built it from a box of parts. It's a 440 bottom end with 10 mm 044 top end. I was shocked how strong it is.+10
Also can try another easy and cheap mod.
I took .010 out of the band and cut base to yield a squish of 20 with the factory metal gasket. Many guys here will do that for $50 for you. Well worth it IMHO.
Add a @Red97 deflector to the starter side of the muffler can and/or a DP cover.
Advance timing like Troller said.
You'll get a saw that runs right on the tail of a well ported one. I wish I still had the one I did this on to compare to one I've fully ported. About 175 psi and wants to 4 stroke well into the 15's.
I'll probably do that one day.Believe you me, do the jug mod as well. I'm sure Randy can take the job and in state shipping will be cheap for you.
