I feel pics are not needed at this time. Most anyone who might follows this thread knows what they all look like.
My case is a 12mm so I should be good with any bore size. The jug is straight fin and good. The piston is toast. I also have a 460 BB china jug given to me. The jug is OK and should clean up. It had a flat exhaust roof that grabbed the ring which broke the top of the piston off. I'm going to hack the case to accept all the pistons. The 460 BB may not work well.
And these nice jugs are: tight 38 DD lol you wish...
044 12mm straight fin OEM
440 12mm straight fin OEM
046 non D with decomp OEM
046 non D without decomp OEM
460 decomp OEM
460 BB China "NO PISTON" so?... need a good candidate!
046 OEM still together original saw not yet checked out
A 460 HyWay NE jug would be nice WhereTF are they?????????????? Still waiting :-( ... ... ...
Another 046 will be used for comparison shopping so to speak. Bone stock 046 to have a base line.
I can time them all and get the cylinder ID specs. This won't mean *s-word to me cause they are getting hacked-up if needed. Might drop a 50mm on the 46 just to see how it responds.
1. Is anyone interested in the combustion chamber sizes? Case cc's? Just asking...
2. Can a 460BB on a 44 case be a good runner with the piston size and weight?. I mean the vibs. We shall see.
Has anyone built a 44 case with a 54mm bore on top?
As far as carbs, muffs, ign timing, air filters and such they will all be set as close to one another as possible. And yes, the timing light will get dusted off for this and the tac will not be used. Always tune by ear here, hu? say what? Oh, OK. Two muffler cans to match the different exit ports will be in house to use. Several covers will vary in exit port size.
I have the 12mm pin pistons Stihl offers for these jugs plus AM Meteors and others.
It took me four years to find a good rebuild-able 44 case and crank for the reasonable price of a Benny. This is me be all end all 4series build. It will take some time.
Tips, tricks, twists and that 54mm piston reference. Speak up all you 44-46 gurus! And so it begins.
