Thanks, if this AM carb turns out to be junk, I've got an 036 carcass I can pull the carb off of and try.
036 carb is a completely different throttle, choke etc set up. You’d have to completely change everything you’ve worked on to make the 361 carb work. 044/046/461 carbs are physically on the outside as the 361 carb and would swap right in

I haven't even looked at the 360 carb, I'll have to pull it off the saw and look at it.

I just looked at it, I think it would be a pain in the a** to try and use the 360 carb with the throttle lever being at the top.

@Ronie what intake manifold are you using? The 026 intake or one from a different saw? Iirc a 038 intake manifold will work but it gets a little kinked. I think it was a 044 intake tube that I ended up using.

On this cylinder I'm going to use the 026 intake because I didn't grind out that flat spot but I'll probably grind all that out when I do the OEM cylinder and use an 044 intake boot.

I got a little more done on it today. I tried to use the 026 boot but the throttle wouldn't open all the way so I used an AM 361 boot, the only one I had that was close to fitting, It was to loose on the cylinder so I took some shrink tubing and put it on the flange, nice and tight now. I also had to enlarge the hole the boot passes through on the tank. Other things that got done, cleaned up where I had to grind on the tank to get the carb to fit, longer carb studs, opened up the filter where it connects to the carb to 19.8mm and took .023 off the flywheel key. it's slow going but if all goes well I should have it running by the weekend.

I forgot to mention that I had to trim one of the cylinder fins on the clutch side, flywheel side was good.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it was a turd, I haven't had the best of luck with AM cylinders.
Like anything else it's a fine line between performance and dog off the line. It's why work saws only have enough work to make them exciting for work but not insane to run.

I got it put back together this afternoon, tried to start it and I couldn't get it to run. So I put a kit in the 026 carb just to see if it would run and it fired up. Tomorrow I'll try an OEM 460 carb I got for another project.

I didn't try and tune it, I just wanted to hear it run.

Things aren't going so well with th 026, I broke the starter rope and when it broke it did something to my elbow, the 460 carb catches on the intake boot, when I looked in the 361 boot it had started to fold making the inner diameter smaller and I split the end of the old fuel line that I should have replaced to start with.

I got tired of trying to make it work with what I've got so I ordered a new fuel line and found a 039 carb on ebay for $15 shipped. now I need to come up with a better boot, @drf256 was the 440 boot the best one you've found for this swap or have you come up with something better?

While I'm waiting on parts I put the 026 boot/carb back on and clipped the split end off the fuel line so I could try it out, I also put the shorter 026 carb studs back in. I just finished doing that and get a video of it after I have a cup of Joe.

I tried to tune it and I just couldn't get it to hold the rpms so I took the filter off to see if the filter was holding it back huge difference for the better without the filter, I need a different filter. With the filter on I could adjust the idle down but with the filter off I'm out as far as I can go on the low and I'm about 2 1/2 turns out on the high. It looks a little slow in the video but in the saws defence them oak rounds have been setting in the sun for around 6 months and are pretty hard. When I get the 039 carb on I'll post how it does.

After thinking about it awhile, I think this carb is just messed up so I ordered an AM carb. I think it's worth $10 to see how it will run with a stock carb. I cut all the mesh out of one side of the filter and super glued some pantyhose over that side, just a temporary fix until I decide what to do about the filter. I also cut out the divider on the inside of the filter.
