I used one of those the other day. It's a fresh air setup for hexavalent chromium. Heavy and no fun to use for 12 hour shift.

mine is setup for air supply also, just don't have any of it attached...its still heavy though cause of the molded ducts inside the helmet...

Prefered hood all depends on the environment...

In my situation here, auto dark, with cooling air is the only way to go. Crammed in a tight space, everything heated to 400* weld, descale, and torch, hard to do with a fixed shade.

Also depends on what kind of equipment you are using. I learned real quick my "hobby" hood was inadequate. Mostly with coverage. Never burned my neck doing general fab.

Add 200+ amps that light is a different ballgame.

The Speedglas has plastic curtains you can install to block out the side windows if you want. I personally like them but I don't have people welding next to me. I can see how someone sparking next to you would be a nuisance.

Their older head gear didn't have a great bottom detent and would open up a little if your head was pointed down. The newer one is better but it still can open up if you tuck your chin and hit the hood on your chest. Lets face it, blinks are mostly for bench work and fab shops. When you're welding all day a fixed shade would be better on your eyes anyway.

Here I found a helmet that might suit you.

Yeah that wouldn't work... You weld daily? I'll scratch that off my replacement list I only weld a lot when others break a bunch of crap or in the winter when I try to make something ... I wanna try to make a heavy round bale feeder my bull is sorta an *a-hole ... He gets pretty sassy with the feeders destroys everything but me so far
