I’m sure the bar is sloppy, it was when new I never measured but it wouldn’t have surprised me if a .058 chain would have went in bar even though it’s supposed to be .050. About 6-7 tanks on bar and chain.

.058 gauge chain already fits in bar rails getting a sharp edge on them also. Hit some dirt in the tree bark knocked big chunks out of the soft teeth and the over hard teeth chipped. Had to grind about 1/4 of the tooth down to get resharpened. After I got somewhat of an edged on I noticed some rivets getting pretty loose and lots of twist and side play on links. Drivers sharpened themselves to a point and the bottom of some tie straps are smeared. I think the tri link experiment is over for me. Was a waste of money in my opinion. Yes the chain can still be used but as loose as it is after 7-8 tanks of fuel I don’t trust it to stay together. And the bar probably would have faired even worse with a real chain on it that had properly hardened links and a newer saw that doesn’t oil.

The end of life for this one:

Tweaking a new loop for work duty, before:

... and after:

Rakers got reset too and I've gone through all teeth with a 5.5mm round file to give the cutters a better edge.

A lot of work to get these take a halfway decent bite.

I'm curious to find out whether this loop will break like the previous two did.

Not impressed if 2 for 2 broke just at different stages in their usefull life. I haven’t used my second one enough to see if it will stay together. Don’t know why but I let myself get talked into trying a 25” loop of full chisel skip. I abused it for 2-3 tanks each milling on my hybrid and 064.

Sharpened the 25” loop once and it has some horribly hard teeth on it also. Hard to the point I had to grind again since the file wouldn’t sharpen them.

Today I used my Dolmar PS-7900 with a new tweaked TriLink chisel loop and my Dolmar PS-7310 with a near end of life chisel Dolmar 099 loop.

What a disapointment the TriLink is!!!
The Dolmar 099 loop cut circles around the TriLink - it took a bite and chewed right through the oak logs.

I am considering to set my PS-7900 up with a quality loop and just keep the TriLink for bucking very dirty firewood logs.
