Folks, I have a Husqvarna 440 that runs wide open once choke is off, I changed out the carb and the same issue persists. My repair kit did come with a gasket however, the illustrated parts list don't show a gasket being used. The OEM carb didn't have one on either but she's sucking air from somewhere. Any ideas. I looked at fuel lines and that rubber boot at the intake and they looked ok.. thanks guys.

Spray brake cleaner or something around the seals to see if they are leaking.

I'll try that tonite, this little 440 is a constant problem. First the aluminum fly wheel wore and it wouldn't keep time. It took me 4 months to get one then it was the coil that went bad twice and now this. Once fixed, it's going to another home. I'm done with this little saw.

I have 30 and 50 year old saws that start and run and cut every time I need them .

you didn't mention it, and i'm not familiar with that model saw, but is it possible to have installed the carb and got the throttle cable not right where the carb has installed as its butterfly wide open? can u confirm the throttle trigger is operational and the carb butterfly isn't hung open?
some of them are a real pita to fit the carb in and get the cable positioned to where everything operates as intended and doesn't pinch or bind especially the smaller model saws.

This little thing has a rubber boot at the intake. I inspected it but that don't mean it's not sucking somewhere. It's about time to put this project back in the box.
By box I mean trash. Shaking my head!!

Have you tried spraying crap around the intake as a previous user said?
