Much lighter. First thing I noticed. Let me find an 044 from the old PHO weight thread I started back on the 'other' forums here... which reminds me I need to put this thing on a scale and take a photo for the gallery.

Almost a 12 ounce difference. It's a similar filter to the MS361. Which, oddly, stays cleaner than the HD filter system for longer. Or maybe it just makes me lazier - dunno. It's also closer to an MS361 in weight than a 440. ;) But that's with a small clutch cover and one small inside dawg. She now wears a large clutch cover and big dogs. But she's still very light for the power. I rarely reach for another saw.

Wow, was that my first post here? ;) Just realized.

Here she is easily pulling 24" in oak:

Angled fins and the stock muffler before I opened it all up to hell(Chinese clutch cover with graffiti and Husky nuts, coz I just prefer them to the Stihl version):

That’s pretty sweet

Thank you.

He had told me a long time ago. That when he moved I was going to get the sign, and when I bought his last 2188. He said it again. And well he's not moving soon I guess he decided to surprise me. And that he did. Don't think I will be able to part with it being as it was a gift from a friend.

We bought a Timberjack 404 skidder a month ago for scrap price ($1000). It had a broken liner in the engine and had been neglected badly by its last owner. We wound up using a couple used liners, pistons and con rods from our 230 Timberjack project skidders engine, bought an overhaul gasket set and I reasssembled it. We had to replace the water pump and alternator from the other engine too. We did a pile of work on the winch to get it up to snuff too.

Then a couple days ago we talked to one of my dads best friends. He had a 380 TJ. He told us if it was still where he left it it was ours. Also, he had a van full of new parts for it, including the brake bands we needed for the 404. We went out there and found the 380 and the parts right where he had left them. The 380 had a newly rebuilt 453 Detroit 800hrs ago and everything checked out, engine rolls etc, so it will be coming home to get checked over and pressed back into service.

So, skidder 1 came in at just over $2,000 to get back up and running. Skidder 2 is sitting at free plus having to rent a trailer for a day to go get it, so about $200. Lol.

And some Detroit music from yesterday:
