With the more robust top cover of the MKII gives the effect of it looking larger and therefor heavier(technically it is), but to be honest after running it I can't really give you any real world difference between the two, the new saw feels every bit as good as its predecessor. I won't be trading in my MKI as for my use will be just fine, if I didn't have one I would opt for the MKII no question.
